my last week in Alegrete

On Monday I decided that my hair was too long so I cut it Brazilian style.  It was very different for me, as I never have had my hair like that.  I do not regret that.  On Wednesday at school they had this thing called dia do brega, which is basically dressing up in random clothes.  I wore some clothes that I would normally not wear.  It was a good day.  That night we went out to eat pizza with Cristina, the president of Partners.  The pizza was superb.  On Wednesday we had a barbeque at Cristina's house.  Brazilian barbeque is always amazing.  The next two days consisted of the CDC  fest.  This was some sort of event where the students gave presentations to the teachers.  I even gave a presentation in Portuguese.  The same day America was blasting off fireworks for its birthday, here we celebrate my bro's birthday! Henrique turned 17 that day.  They grow up so fast.  Friday was my last day in Alegrete, and a bittersweet day too.  I had to say goodbye to everyone which was sad because I had an amazing time in Alegrete and met so many amazing people.  There was a convocation at the school where Henrique and I talked about the program.  I talked about my experience in Brazil and the differences between Alegrete and Indiana.  I spent the last hours of school hanging with people, and then had to say goodbye, which was sad because I didn't know if I would see many of them ever again.  Later I went to English class for the last time ever.  However, later I went out to dinner with the English class.  It was a great night.  We went to a restaurant that happened to be owned by Maggie's husband.  I had a steak stuffed with ham, cheese, and a tomato sauce.  It was huge, filled a whole plate.  It was one of the best things I've ever eaten.  We hung out, took some pictures, and then it was time to go.  After that Henrique and I left for Porto Alegre.  Alegrete was amazing and I will miss it a lot.
Na segunda feira eu decidi que meu cabelo era muito largo então eu o cortei estilo Brasiliero.  Foi muito diferente para mim, como eu nunca tive meu cabelo assim.  Eu não me arrependo.  Na terça feira na escola tivemos essa coisa chamado dia do brega, que basicamente é vestir-se em roupa ridículo.  Eu usava roupa que normalmente não uso.  Foi um bom dia.  Aquela noite fomos a comer pizza com Cristina, o presidente de Partners.  O pizza foi muito bom.  Na quarta feira tivemos um churrasco ao casa do Cristina.  Churrasco brasileiro sempre é bom.  Os proximos dois dias havia o CDC fest.  Isso é um tipo de evento escolar onde os estudantes fazen presentaçãos para os profesores.  Eu mesmo fazei uma presentação em portugues.  O mesmo dia que America estava explodindo fogos de artifício para sua aniversario, aqui celebramos o aniversario do meu irmão!  Henrique completou 17 anos naquela dia.  Eles crescem tão rápido.  Sexta feira foi meu ultimo dia no Alegrete, e um dia agridoce também.  Eu tive que dizer adeus a todos que foi triste porque eu desfrutei muito meu tempo no Alegrete e conheci a muitas pessoas legais.  Havia uma presentação na escola onde Henrique e eu falamos sobre o programa.  Eu falei sobre minha experiencia no Brasil e as diferenças entre Alegrete e Indiana.  Eu passei as ultimas horas de escola com meus amigos, e depois tive que dizer adeus, que foi muito triste porque eu não sabia se eu iria ver muitos deles nunca mais.  Mais tarde fui para aula do îngles por a ultima vez.  Porém, mais tarde saí para jantar com a aula do îngles.  Foi uma noite muita legal.  Fomos ao uma restaurante que passou a ser de propiedade da esposo do Maggie.  Eu comei um bife rellena com presunto, queijo, e um molho de tomate.  Era enorme, encheu um prato inteiro.  Foi uma das melhores coisas que eu já comei.  Nós saímos, tiramos umas fotos, e em seguida era tempo para ir.  Depois de isso Henrique e eu saímos para Porto Alegre.  Alegrete foi incrível, e vou a sintir falta muito. 

My 3rd week in Alegrete

During my 3rd week in Alegrete Henrique and I went to Porto Alegre with his dad.  He had a conference with his company so we went along with him.  We crashed at Cesar's house for about a day and a half and went shopping a little as well.  I met some relatives of Henrique and did a little sightseeing in the city also.  At the end we had dinner with Henrique's dad at the comany meeting.  We left for Alegrete after that, and got home at 11:30 Friday night.  Saturday morning Henrique and I left to Uruguay with Cristina Zarif Severo, who is in the Partners program as well.  We visited some shops in Artigas, a small town along the border.  Uruguay was great.  Sunday I got to watch Brazil win the Confederations Cup!  They dominated against Spain.
Durante meu terceira semana no Alegrete Henrique e eu fomos para Porto Alegre com seu pai.  Ele tinha uma conferência com sua empresa, então fomos com ele.  Ficamos na casa do Cesar por uma dia e meio e fomos ao shopping também.  Conheci a  umos parentes de Henrique  e fazei um poco de turismo.  Al fim jantamos com o pai do Henrique ao reunião do sua empresa.  Saímos para Alegrete depois de isso e chegamos no Alegrete as 11:30 na noite de sexta.  Manha de sábado Henrique e eu fomos para Uruguay com Cristina Zarif Severo, quem está em o programa do Partners também.  Fomos ao shopping no Artigas, um cidade pequeno ao longo na fronteira.  Uruguay foi muito legal.  Domingo eu assiti o jogo de Brasil contra Espanha, e Brasil foi os campeões de Copa do Confederações!  Eles dominaram contra Espanha.

The food

One of the things that I really enjoy a lot in Brazil is the food.  I like almost every food that I tried here.  One food that I eat everyday is feijoada, the rice and beans.  It is very good and usually has meat in it.  I also tried fried polenta, which is very good, and manjoca is amazing.  It is a root, and is almost a potato, but not really.  It is called yuka in Spanish.  Another food that is really good is pinhão, which is a seed.  It tastes like a potato, but better.  Nescau is chocolate milk powder but really good.  Another thing is Nata.  It is a cream that can be used with bread and is very good.  Another food is chicken hearts.  It is weird for Americans, but common here.  Anyways, the food is amazing.  A little too good sometimes haha.  Tchou
Uma de as coisas que eu gosto mais do Brasil é a comida.  Eu gosto quasi tudo comida que provei aqui.  Uma comida que eu como cada dia é feijoada.  é muito bom e usualmente tem carne dentro.  Tambem provei polenta frito, que é muito delicioso, e tambem manjoca é muito bom.  é um riaz, e quasi uma batata, mas não é. Se chama yuka em espanhol.  Um outro coisa que é muito bom é pinhão, que é um semente.  O sabor é parecido a batata, mas melhor.  Nescauó é pó de leite de chocolate mas muito delicioso.  Outra coisa é nata. é  um creme que pode ser usado com pão e é bom.  Outra comida é coração do frango.  é muito extranho pra os Americanos, mas comum aqui.  De qualquer maniera, a comida é incrível.  A veces um pouco bom demais haha.  Tchou
